Hansen, partner win big Puerto Rico tax contract
A Rancho Cordova software firm said Friday that it and a partner have been selected provide a billing and tax management system to the agency that collects and distributes taxes for the entire Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Hansen Information Technologies Inc. and Rock Solid Technologies Inc., of San Juan, Puerto Rico, will convert five years worth of account data and set up software to handle 1.2 million tax accounts and bills, totaling some $800 million in revenue per year, across 78 municipalities on the island, the local company said.
The value of the contract was not disclosed, but Carlos Thomas, director of billing and tax with Hansen, said the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Municipal Collection Center would be Hansen's largest billing and tax customer.
Hansen recently sold controlling interest in the company to a Bay Area private equity firm for $50 million, which it plans to use for expansion around the world.
