San Antonio Water System Selects Hansen 8 to Provide Web-Based Enterprise Resource Software System   Print  E-mail
Written by Hansen
Friday, 25 August 2006
$21 Million Contract to Provide CIS Billing, Asset Management, Permitting, Financials, Human Resources, and GIS

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.--Aug. 24, 2006--Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen(R)) today announced its selection by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) to provide a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Software System (ERSS) as part of a ten-year, $21.1 million contract. As the prime contractor and systems integrator for the project, Hansen will lead a team of public sector experts that include Lawson, Selectron, Hewlett-Packard, and Oracle Corporation. Project implementation will span 28 months, and Blue Heron Consulting will provide quality assurance and oversight assistance throughout this period.

"Like any high-performance organization, SAWS is committed to providing outstanding customer service," said SAWS CEO David Chardavoyne. "This information system project will help move us to a new level of operational efficiency. And that can only mean better service and better value for our customers. Now that we've signed the contract, we're ready to dig in and get down to the real work--work that will positively impact every area of our organization and the quality of service we provide."

The Hansen solution will replace a number of legacy applications at SAWS. CIS Billing was the main driver for the ERSS project, but the new solution will help automate SAWS' business processes across the organization.

"The solution we put together for SAWS is based on our latest Microsoft .NET technology. SAWS identified their need to procure a complete ERSS solution with CIS Billing as the main focal point to better serve their customers," said Carlos Thomas, Managing Director, Hansen CIS & Tax Billing. "The Hansen solution will allow SAWS to start the process with the developer, create the assets and billing accounts, manage the billing process, and pass financial information to the G/L at the end of the day. It's effective, efficient, and completely scalable."

The SAWS water and wastewater system serves the seventh-largest city in the United States. With more than 9,600 miles of main, the SAWS system would stretch from San Antonio to Australia if laid end to end. With the procurement of the Hansen system, SAWS will have an increased capability to obtain pertinent infrastructure information from various departments to assist in the repair and maintenance of this large system.

The Hansen project team will include:

- Hansen - CIS Billing, Asset Management, Permitting, Fleet, Barcoding, & GIS

- Lawson - Financials & HR

- Selectron Technologies - IVR & IWR

- Sympro - Treasury Management

- Hewlett Packard - Database & Application Servers

- Oracle - Database Licenses (10g with RAC)

- Blue Heron Consulting - Quality Assurance & Project Management

In order to meet the needs of SAWS' long-term operational plan and specific efficiency and cost requirements, Hansen and SAWS worked together for over 14 months before this contract was awarded. The procurement process also included nine visits to the sites of other Hansen software users, and over three months of detailed contract negotiations. Hansen and SAWS have made available to the public a copy of SAWS' original Request for Competitive Sealed Proposal (RCSP), as well as the Vendor Demonstration Script. Both of these documents are available at Hansen's Web site at http://www.hansen.com/saws/default.asp.
