RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of software applications for the public sector market, today announced the acquisition of Australia's leading Advanced Asset Management product -- a product designed in accordance with the 2006 Edition of the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM). The new module will expand Hansen's leading enterprise asset management suite to provide real-time infrastructure decision support, predictive modeling, and optimized renewal analysis for long-range capital planning of public sector assets.

Along with this significant product acquisition, Hansen also announced the promotion of Peter Pagonis as Director of Hansen's Asset Business Unit. Prior to his new position, Peter was Operations Manager for Hansen International Australasia, Pty Ltd, where he was responsible for over 40 asset management projects, including Melbourne Water Corporation, Yarra Valley Water, City of Adelaide, City of Geelong, Westrail, and City of Perth. Peter also contributed to the design and development of Hansen's Fixed Asset Accounting module, capable of managing financial valuation and depreciation in accordance with generally accepted government accounting standards.

Hansen's new Advanced Asset management product was acquired from Hansen Technologies Limited (not affiliated with Hansen Information Technologies), a Melbourne, Australia-based publicly traded company.

"The addition of Advanced Asset Management capabilities to our Asset suite provides unparalleled advantages to Hansen users," said Pagonis. "Having helped a number of leading governments and utilities in Australia and New Zealand implement Hansen Asset solutions, I know firsthand how this new module will enable organizations to take a more sophisticated, strategic view of their infrastructure investment initiatives in order to optimize expenditures on asset replacement and maintenance and enjoy bottom-line benefits."

Hansen's new Advanced Asset Management module is immediately available and will be showcased at Hansen's 20th Annual International User Group Conference at the Resort at Squaw Creek, October 8-12, 2006. Hansen will demonstrate key features of the new module that will allow leading public sector and utility customers to:

-- Monitor asset condition and performance
-- Base renewal programs on optimized Return on Investment (ROI)
-- Manage agency and utility business risk at the asset level
-- Base capital expenditures (CapEx) on lowest life-cycle costs
-- Develop long-term asset renewal profiles

Another key feature of Hansen's new Advanced Asset Management module is its standardization and adoption of the 2006 International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM), as developed by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA), a professional organization providing member services and advocacy while delivering public works and engineering services to the community. Previously known as the Institute of Municipal Engineering Australia (IMEA), the organization is now expanding its traditional local government engineering focus to public works and covering all levels of government and private practice. The IPWEA has been internationally accepted as the next-generation standard of enterprise asset management, and already has been adopted by a number of Hansen's leading asset users in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

The IIMM is widely regarded as the new foundation for asset management standards and policies as promoted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in their Advanced Asset Management training curriculum. Other leading international organizations endorsing the IIMM include:

-- IPWEA -- Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia
-- INGENIUM -- Association of Local Government Engineering New Zealand
-- IAM -- Institute of Asset Managers United Kingdom
-- IMESA -- Institute of Municipal Engineering Southern Africa
-- NAMS Group -- New Zealand

"The addition of this new Advanced Asset Management module clearly makes Hansen the leading one-stop solution provider for managing public sector assets," stated Mark Watts, President of Hansen. "Our users will be able to extend their daily work management information and develop powerful 'what if' capital planning scenarios to model and optimize life-cycle costs."

Users of the Advanced Asset Management module (and new Hansen clients) include:

-- Gippsland and Southern Rural Water Authority: Providing water services to 9,000 properties.

-- Goulburn-Murray Rural Water Authority: Providing water services to 25,000 properties.

-- Manningham City Council: Governing a community including 110,000 residents & 12,600 businesses.

-- Westernport Water: Providing water & wastewater services supporting 15,000 properties.

-- Western Water: Providing water and wastewater services to more than 49,000 properties.

According to Hansen's Annual Power User Survey, Hansen worldwide customers manage over 33 million uniquely identified public sector assets -- more than any other computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) vendor -- recording over $6 billion in activity-based costs. The addition of a powerful advanced decision support solution such as the Advanced Asset Management module will bring customers superior value and return on investment by drastically reducing the time required to generate a capital improvement plan from years to weeks, by lowering the total cost of ownership, and by eliminating the need for multiple vendors.
