WAMS – The Next Generation
The second phase of WAMS (Work & Asset Management System) has now gone live for scheduling Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). This module enables the supply team to schedule the routine activities associated with the maintenance of our supply assets such as treatment plants and pumping stations, and to record all of the associated information in a central, universally accessible place. PPMs use the latest version of Hansen WAMS, version 8.06, which is an upgrade to the software that was used for the Asset database that went live last August.

The first PPM work order has now been raised on WAMS for routine maintenance at Hockers Lane site. The PPM function of WAMS is being used by the treatment team who will be scrutinising the system to identify any bugs that need to be resolved before a wider rollout. John Simpson and Ark Wingrove have been heavily involved in the specification and testing of the system with the WAMS team.

There are a number of key benefits from the new PPM scheduling on WAMS compared to previous systems used within Mid Kent Water:
· Easier to use than previous Engarde system
· All information held in one central place but
accessible to both onsite staff & Head Office asset team
· Site specific job/maintenance information to improve long-term planning
· Records all site and detailed asset data which is then available to maintenance staff |

WAMS includes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that detail exactly what should be done at each site and for each piece of equipment. This helps the maintenance task as it provides a central reference to check in the event of a query. The recording of maintenance schedules, asset conditions and work carried out will enable better long-term planning. When an item is found to be unreliable eg the same pump is repaired 3 times in 4 months then the information will allow capital replacements to be planned and managed more effectively.

Initially, the system will go live with Job Lists printed from a dedicated desktop PC at Hockers Lane. Eventually the supply maintainers will be using Toughbook laptops so that details can be recorded on site and at the time of inspection.
John Simpson is looking after the supply implementation and is the main point of contact for any queries with the PPM schedules on WAMS.

The PPM go live is the final step in the decommissioning of the old Engarde database system which will be switched off in the next few weeks. This follows the successful implementation of the WAMS Asset Database which has been holding and updating all MKW Asset information since August.
WAMS Asset Creation Team & Asset Homepage
Now that all MKW Assets are being maintained within WAMS, an Asset Creation Team has been set up to coordinate all changes to the data and setting up of new assets.
Copies of the Asset Creation Form that needs to be completed whenever a new asset is installed or an existing asset is changed can be obtained from the Asset Creation Team.
In addition all the data within WAMS can now be viewed via the Infoshop Intranet pages.
All reports on this page are automated and run each night to give the most up-to-date information possible from our systems.
The reports on the left-hand side of the page which are currently under development show the four production-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These match the weekly management and monthly board report measures.

The reports on the right hand side are direct from the new WAMS system and give definitive details of important assets such as reservoirs and boreholes. For the first time this gives us a single agreed source of operating data.
