RANCHO CORDOVA, CA—January 2 , 2007—Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of enterprise applications for the public sector market, today announced that it has been awarded a $1.7 million contract to provide its Spear 4i™ Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions to the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro) in Austin, Texas. This is the first major contract award for the Spear suite of transportation and rail asset management solutions since Hansen acquired Spear Technologies in April of 2006.

Capital Metro has licensed Hansen’s Spear 4i Work Manager™, Materials Manager™, Infrastructure Manager™, Consist Manager™, Inspection Manager™, Motor Pool, Rebuild Manager™, Image Manager™, the ORAP interface to Oracle Financials, and Mobile Workforce™.

“With Hansen’s Spear 4i, we will have enhanced capabilities to better manage our maintenance garages and to better control inventory,” said Capital Metro Director of Vehicle Maintenance Carl Woodby. “Spear 4i will provide a high level of asset management functionality across all of our asset groups, including buses, facilities, rail cars, and railway components.”

Hansen responded to Capital Metro’s Request for Proposal (RFP) in June 2006 and provided an on-site demonstration of Spear 4i the following month.  The Spear 4i suite will enable Capital Metro to support all the daily activities required to maintain transportation assets, including:

  • Organizing peak service demand

  • Managing work tasks
  • Handling road calls and incidents
  • Identifying parts
  • Expediting parts orders

“Capital Metro’s choice of Spear 4i makes it clear that the addition of the Spear product line to the Hansen suite of enterprise asset management solutions is a big win for customers,” said Hansen Transit and Rail Business Unit Director Peter Morris. “Customers can now enjoy the industry-specific depth and breadth of the Spear product line, and also have access to the broader, more comprehensive suite offered by Hansen.”
