Louisville Metro Government and Metropolitan Sewer District Go Live with an Additional Phase of a $3.3 Million Metro Wide Implementation
Consisting of the Management of Service Requests and Permits, Licenses, Development Projects, Inspections and Code Enforcement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SACRAMENTO, CA, April 16, 2004 - Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) today announced the successful go live of the next phase of a community-wide enterprise software implementation for Louisville Metro Government and the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD). This phase includes the management of construction-related permits, licenses and inspections, occupational licenses and business licenses.
“The implementation of the Hansen system in multiple departments community-wide is the next step in taking Louisville Metro to the cutting-edge of citizen services,” said Mayor Jerry E. Abramson. “By giving Metro staff access to current technology, we can better provide accurate, timely and cost-effective services to our citizens and the businesses serving them.”
Louisville Metro and MSD currently have about 1,000 system users. Residential construction permitting within Jefferson County has remained steady since 1990, averaging 2,500 to 3,000 units per year. Growth in the number of new residential units is consistent with the trend of resumed population growth within Jefferson County. Building permitting is a key barometer of MSD’s prospects for long-term growth and the main contributor to its growing system development revenue. Since 1986, system development charges have become an increasingly significant component of MSD’s operating revenue. MSD’s operating revenues increased by 10.7% to $106.2 million in 2003.
Key benefits of the Hansen project include:
- The ability to integrate and leverage the existing GIS and document management investments with business process management through the Hansen system
- Real time access to data and activities of multiple departments
- On-line access for permits and license applicants via Hansen’s DynamicPORTAL™
- Field computing and real time data access for inspectors.
The first phase of implementation, completed in November 2002, included the installation of computer hardware and the Hansen system, dubbed MIDAS (Metro Information, Development and Asset System). When fully implemented, MIDAS will integrate the customer service calls, code enforcement complaints, development review applications, business and occupational licensing and all building-related permits handled with departments of Louisville Metro and MSD. The current phase of implementation, now live, includes the management of community-wide permits and licenses. The next phase, in development, includes the integration of planning projects, development review and the Public Works Department.
