Hansen Selected to Deliver Asset
Management & Billing Solution for UK Ministry
of Defense in Major Public-Private Partnership
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RANCHO CORDOVA, California, USA and London, England, UK - May 25, 2005 – Hansen
Information Technologies (Hansen®), in partnership with its wholly-owned
subsidiary, Hansen Information Technologies UK Ltd., today announced that it
was selected by the C2C Consortium (C2C), a joint venture partnership of the
Severn Trent Group and the Costain Group, to provide a comprehensive operational
maintenance and asset management solution for the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD).
Representing a major Public-Private Partnership (PPP), Hansen’s solutions
will be delivered as part of a 25-year MOD contract known as Project Aquatrine.
C2C was awarded a contract (Package C) by the United Kingdom’s Ministry
of Defense (MOD) to deliver water and wastewater services to approximately
1,500 MOD sites throughout Southeast, East and Northern England. The C2C contract
is valued at approximately $1.9 billion and began operating on March 30, 2005.
"Project Aquatrine will ensure the transfer of environmental and operational
issues to those in the private sector who are best placed to manage it,” stated
Dr. Lewis Moonie, UK Defense Minister. “This contract will enable the
MOD to concentrate its efforts on delivering military capability."
Project Aquatrine is the first major Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the
U.K. water industry in which water and wastewater services will be provided
for a widely dispersed area outside of the regulated water industry. The contract
calls for the transfer of responsibility for the maintenance and operation
of the MOD’s water and wastewater assets to the private sector, while
the MOD concentrates on its core defense activities. Package C was also the
joint winner of a Global Water Award 2005 for ‘a complex but innovative
deal that overshadowed all other finance initiatives in Europe during 2004.’
“We are privileged to be part of this landmark initiative that will
deliver water and wastewater services to defense facilities throughout the
UK,” stated Chuck Hansen, Chairman and CEO. “My hearty congratulations
to Hansen’s newly appointed UK Managing Director, Neil Shaw, for allowing
us to become part of Great Britain’s largest water-related Private Finance
Initiative (PFI).”
As part of its contract, Hansen will deliver its asset management and billing
solutions for Water, Sewer, Plant, Equipment, and Executive Dashboard solutions. “C2C
selected a solution that provided a wide range of functionality and will adapt
with the growth of the business,” stated Wayne Earp, General Manager
for C2C Services, the operational arm of C2C. “Hansen had to pass a tough
evaluation before being selected as the secure enterprise solution we need
to drive the business. They also had to deliver a working solution within the
five months we had to become operational.”
