Rancho Cordova, California, June 26, 2006 - Hansen Information Technologies today announced that it has been selected by the City of North Vancouver, British Columbia to provide its .NET web-based Hansen 8 solution for Asset and Work Management. Hansen's solution will provide the City of North Vancouver the tools required to better manage their infrastructure and more effectively plan and track their resources.

After identifying the need to streamline asset management and reduce overall cost through improved planning, the City realized that their existing Operation Management System lacked the functionality to meet their requirements. In a joint effort, the City's Engineering, Operations, GIS, Facilities, Finance and IT departments conducted a thorough review of submitted proposals. In addition to the vendor's asset management capabilities, the City also strongly considered reliability and GIS capability.

Hansen 8 was selected to meet the City's needs since it was both the highest quality product and the solution best aligned with the City's strategic direction from an IT and corporate perspective. "I look forward to using the Hansen system at the City of North Vancouver," said Steve Ono, City Engineer for North Vancouver and previous Hansen user. "It will be an extremely useful tool to better manage the City's infrastructure and resources."

The City will be implementing Hansen 8 in a phased approach, using their in-house expertise in conjunction with Hansen's professional services. The first phase of delivery will include Hansen's Work Management, Water, and Fleet solutions. Hansen's Citizen Relationship Management, Sewer, Storm, Street, Plant, and Parks products will be implemented shortly thereafter.

"Hansen is very excited about our project with North Vancouver," said Mitch Bradley, Hansen's Business Unit Director for Assets. "The City has done their homework and is approaching this project in a very careful manner. With the imminent PSAB asset accounting standards, this project is not only well-timed, but will position North Vancouver to be compliant with those standards upon their adoption."

The Hansen 8 solution will be instrumental in managing and preserving the City's $530 million of assets, including:
  • 130 km of paved roads
  • 150 km of storm mains
  • 140 km of sanitary sewer mains
  • 150 km of water mains
  • 560 hydrants
  • 42 km of lanes
  • 145 km of sidewalks
  • 30,000 sq meters of flowers and shrub beds
  • 45 hectares of grass area
  • 100 vehicles and equipment
