Fairfax County, VA Goes Live with Second Phase of a $2.4 Million Implementation for an Integrated Land Management, Permit, and Development Solution
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SACRAMENTO, CA, March 9, 2004 – Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) announced today that Fairfax County, VA, went live with the 2nd phase of a multi-phase, $2.4 million implementation project to provide an integrated software solution that interfaces the Office of Building Code Services, Department of Public Works & Environmental Services, Department of Planning and Zoning, Fire & Rescue and Health Departments. The new system will replace several existing computer systems with an enterprise-wide solution to automate building permits, code enforcement, license, field inspections, reviews, and citizen complaint resolution services.
The Hansen system enables the County to improve decision-making through enhanced analysis of information in the database. The system will also enable immediate access and information-sharing with multiple County agencies, including the Board of Supervisors’ offices. The outcome will result in quicker response time and enhanced customer service.
“The Hansen implementation represents an important phase of a comprehensive land planning development and redesign process that replaces several legacy systems with new systems utilizing emerging technologies,” said Stephen Garnier, IT Project Manager, Fairfax County. “The County is pleased to offer increased services to residents as a result of efficient operations and improved communication between County departments.”
All together, the Hansen system will help Fairfax County manage nearly $30 million in operating revenues. Last year, Fairfax County issued more than 82,000 permits, reviewed 17,000 building-related plans, and conducted more than 261,000 inspections (valued at approximately $1.2 billion in construction authorization). Hansen’s V7.7 integrated solution will become a vital part of the county’s comprehensive land planning development and redesign process, which will include automated operations management, mobile handset applications, and a link to the County’s GIS capabilities.
“We are pleased that such a visionary district as Fairfax County has chosen Hansen as the backbone for the delivery of government solutions critical to its citizens,” said Chuck Hansen, Chairman & CEO of Hansen. “This relationship enforces our leadership in the sector for helping the most demanding land development and building permit professionals in the industry.”
Fairfax County has purchased Hansen’s Version 7.7 solutions for building permits, code enforcement, license, customer service, Hansen Mobile Solutions, DynamicPORTALTM for permitting, licensing and customer service, and the Hansen Integrated Map Viewer for GIS capabilities. Phase one of the implementation began in Spring 2003.
