Hansen Hires Industry Expert to Help Land Management Customers Benefit from Technology Investments

SACRAMENTO, CA, August 11, 2004 - Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) today welcomed Mr. Andy Ruotsala as a Government Industry Consultant working with the Hansen Planning, Permits, Licenses and Code Enforcement Business Unit to help customers better understand and improve internal business processes and to maximize the effectiveness of their hardware and software investment. Mr. Ruotsala brings over 20 years experience working with state and local government.
“We realize that in order for Hansen to continue providing a technically advanced product for the government industry, we need input and advice from our customers,” said Kent Marjerison, Business Unit Manager, Planning, Permits, Licenses and Code Enforcement. “Adding Andy to my team as an industry consultant will allow Hansen to keep an open dialog with customers about their land management software including desired functionality, business process needs, and the ever-changing regulations and requirements they face.”
Prior to Hansen, Mr. Ruotsala was founder of Tidemark Solutions, Inc., a software firm specializing in permit and workflow automation software for government that was acquired by Accela in 2001. Mr. Ruotsala previously served as a consultant to Accela in various capacities, including GIS product manager. He has authored several white papers and given presentations on permit management, GIS integration, mobile computing, and concurrency management in forums such as URISA and CalGIS.

Mr. Ruotsala holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, Master of City Planning, and Master of Science in Transportation degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in Oceanography from the University of Washington. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the IEEE Computer Society.
