Rancho Cordova, CA -- October 3, 2006 -- Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of software applications for the public sector market, today announced that it has been awarded a $1.6 million contract to provide Hansen Tax Administration, Tax Billing, Cashiering, and Business and Trade Licensing software solutions to the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) in Nova Scotia, Canada for their Revenue Management System project. HRM is already utilizing Hansen's Citizen Relationship Management (CRM), Permitting, and Case Management modules, implemented in 2002.
The Revenue Management System project is scheduled to be completed in mid-2008 and will include planning, business process review and definition, data analysis and conversion, development, configuration, testing, and training.
"This project demonstrates HRM's innovative vision and commitment to providing a true enterprise solution to its citizens," said Daya Pillay, Program Manager, Revenue Resolution Project for HRM. "This is an exciting opportunity for HRM to leverage its existing systems and add functionality. Hansen will truly be a land-centric enterprise system for HRM."
The new Hansen modules will increase the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of revenue collection for HRM and integrate seamlessly into HRM's existing Hansen software. The new system will provide a single source of corporate data for HRM by replacing the functionality of several systems currently in use. This will also enable one point of revenue collection and streamline many of HRM's current processes. The new solutions will also help manage HRM's infrastructure.
"By choosing Hansen for its Revenue Management Project, the Halifax Regional Municipality has built a foundation for long-term success," said Judy Park, Sales Director with Hansen Information Technologies Canada. "The Hansen suite provides the flexibility, level of customization, and scalability that Halifax will need to grow and expand while at the same time giving the citizens of Halifax the most for their money."

The existing Hansen CRM module that Halifax implemented in 2002 is specifically designed to help HRM employees better manage tasks such as citizen inquiries and compliance complaints. Since implementation of the module, HRM staff members have completed over 2.2 million service requests on the system--more than any other Hansen client in Canada.
"HRM is excited about leveraging its current investment in Hansen technology," said Catherine Sanderson, Senior Manager of Financial Services at HRM. "We will build on what we've already accomplished in the areas of customer service, permitting, and case management, and we will develop an integrated view of all property-related information. Benefits to the citizen will include the ability to view their integrated property information online. Benefits to HRM include an enhanced holistic view of all HRM activities around a property. This will improve decision making and utilization of resources."
