City of Seattle Adds Hansen’s DynamicPORTAL® to Existing Suite of Hansen Solutions

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA—November 14, 2006—Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of enterprise applications for the public sector market, today announced that the City of Seattle, Washington has gone live with Hansen’s DynamicPORTAL® to manage online permits for the City’s Department of Transportation. 

With DynamicPORTAL integrated into the City’s current online web architecture, contractors will now be able to apply for Street Use Right-of-Way permits through the City’s Web site, www.seattle.gov. DynamicPORTAL is the latest addition to the suite of Hansen solutions that Seattle began using in 2001. The City also currently uses Hansen’s Street, Licensing, Inventory Control, Accident, and GeoAdministrator modules.

“It’s a huge customer service advancement to make permits available online for many of our customers,” said Anne Fiske-Zuniga, Deputy Director of the Seattle Department of Transportation. “Our frequent permitees say that it’s easy and saves them a trip downtown.”

Hansen’s DynamicPORTAL for permits provides full-service, over-the-counter permitting, as well as the ability to query information about existing large-scale projects while online. As a citizen fills in the required data (using a customized wizard based on the City’s existing business process), the data is validated and transmitted directly to the Hansen permit module. Currently, the City processes approximately 10,000 new Street Use permits per year.

“By using DynamicPORTAL for online permitting, the City of Seattle will be able to significantly reduce foot traffic at the City’s Department of Transportation permitting desk,” said Hansen DynamicPORTAL Project Manager Juan Ortiz. “This will free up department personnel to focus on complex right-of-way issues and projects while still providing excellent customer service.”
