RANCHO CORDOVA, California - December 2, 2005 - Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) today announced that it has been awarded a $3.4 million contract with the City of Long Beach, California to provide Hansen 8, their latest Web-based Permit, Code Enforcement, and Licensing solution. The agreement will help re-engineer and consolidate business processes in Planning & Building, Commercial Services (Business Licenses), Community Development (Code Enforcement), Fire, Health, Police and Public Works into a single integrated system.
In reviewing departmental requests for upgrading current systems, the City of Long Beach realized the need for interdepartmental coordination of systems planning. A major outcome of the City's Information Systems Master Plan developed in 2003 was the recommendation to replace multiple legacy systems, including its building permit and business licenses systems. The Master Plan also provided support for the City's recently enhanced Code Enforcement organization. Hansen was ultimately selected through an extensive competitively bid RFP process, involving many departmental business owners and stakeholders.
"The City is embarking on a large-scale project to implement an enterprise-wide system that will support all of the City's permitting, licensing, inspections, and code enforcement case management needs," said Bruce Allen, Manager for the City's Application Services Bureau. "The Hansen system will empower us to migrate away from relatively inefficient legacy systems and older department-specific applications. We've been moving in this direction for a few years guided by our IS Master Plan and to now be actually starting the project is very exciting, not just from the perspective of acquiring and implementing great technology but because of the collaborative nature of the project. It will effectively bring many City departments together and confirm to them how much their various functions really are interrelated and part of a larger process!"
